UNIT ASSESSMENTS
At the end of each topic, pupils will be given a mini-quiz based on the material covered. They can attempt this many times to ensure they can achieve high marks as a result of being familiar with the material. They will also be given a closed-book essay-style question at the end of each Unit, which will be in the style of their final exam. This will give the teacher a clear idea of the level of progress they are making. PRELIM The prelim will be given in January and will exactly mirror the final exam. It will be very concerning were a pupil not to achieve within 10% of their target grade at this stage. A pupil achieving less than 40% at this stage would normally be recommended to change level. They can conduct background reading for this at home, but will be given class time for written research. This will conclude around March when pupils will complete a final write-up of their report. This is worth 30 marks, which is 25% of their final grade. FINAL EXAM By the final exam in May pupils will have covered all 3 units for this subject and will also received instructions regarding how to answer exam questions and time management for the exam.
